Gas chromatography was applied to identify key antibacterial volatiles from Brassica juncea. The effects of allyl isothiocyanate on mycelial growth and ROS metabolism of root rot fungi were determined.
Key Findings:
Allyl isothiocyanate released by Brassica juncea induced massive intracellular ROS accumulation and destroyed cell membrane structure of pathogenic mycelia.
Allyl isothiocyanate was identified as the core active compound responsible for disease suppression in the rotation and straw incorporation biofumigation system of Brassica juncea and Panax notoginseng.
This study provides compound targets for developing green soil amelioration technologies to overcome continuous cropping obstacles in Panax notoginseng.
